(i) Sandblasting
This procedure involves the design being etched with sand onto the
surface of the glass. This design can be fitted retrospectively to
an existing UPVc double glazed frame.
The finish is very similar to that found in public houses but can
give a very nice effect fitted in domestic situations. It is possibly
the most versatile of the decretive finishes and can reproduce text
as well as pictures with equal simplicity.
It could also be regarded as the cheapest
of the specialist glazing with designs starting at around £25.00
including the double-glazing unit.
If you have a computer image of what you would like sandblasting
onto a piece of glass again this can be done relatively inexpensively.
(ii) Stained Class
Very little can be as attractive of the traditional stained glass
design and these can be replicated using modern materials and fitted
to a double glazed unit.
They have all the beautiful good looks of an old-fashioned
stained glass design with the advantages of modern double-glazing.
The designs available are countless but some are shown in our specialist
glazing gallery. However if you do not see what you want or you would
like us to replicate an existing design in your home this can be
done with very little extra cost.
You can even give us a design of your own and this can again be
done as a stained glass unit or single leaf of glass.
(iii) Bevelled Class designs
These designs are produced by sticking a piece of decretive bevelled
edge glass onto a sheet of everyday glass. They are probable the
most attractive and intricate but give by far the most appealing
results.
Again the choice is endless and you are able to see a wide range
of bevelled glass designs in the gallery.
We have bevel catolouges that contain countless bevel designs for
you to choose from.
In conclusion, specialist glazing can give your house it’s
authentic period look or can be used to give it that extra special
personalised look.
